If you have limited space but are in need of a desk, a small computer desk could be the answer you are looking for and it’s readily available at many office supply stores such as Staples, Office Depot or Office Max.  Small, special purpose desks can also be purchased at department stores such as Walmart, Target, K-Mart or Sears.  In fact most furniture stores offer a selection of small desks to choose from, and would be the place to shop if you are looking for a specific style or décor and cost is not a problem.  Furniture stores tend to be pricier than office supply or large department stores.

A small desk would be ideal for already overcrowded bedrooms of teenagers or dorm rooms of college students.  Even though it’s only a small computer desk, student desks also can come with or without drawers and may have coordinating desk chairs available as well.  Purchasing an inexpensive, small student desk is ideal for dorm rooms because it can be left behind or given away without a second thought.

Small computer desks, secretary desks and writing tables tuck easily into small spaces in most living rooms and family rooms or dens.  When space is at a premium, many families find the need to “multipurpose” one or more rooms in their home.  A special purpose small desk meets that need and can be inexpensive as well if price is an issue. Furthermore, sometimes, you will find that a small computer desk comes with a matching desk chair.

If you own a laptop you know that finding a place to set it can be a real pain.  Laptop, while a well intentioned descriptive name, is a misnomer if you have ever tried to sit with it in your lap for any amount of time.  It jiggles, bounces, flips open  or shut and you have to find somewhere to set it every time you want to get up for something.  Here is where it comes in handy to have a laptop desk!  There are many small desks for small spaces that will work great as some sort of a laptop stand. While small and sturdy, they are highly mobile and you can easily drag or wheel them from room to room.

All in all, if space and price are issues, then consider this alternative.  A small computer desk serves the purpose, usually cost less, and you can tuck it in neatly into an already overcrowded area.

In times where saving money is of essence, and space is limited, we are being presented with options that tackle just that. Remember, a small desk doesn’t not mean that the amount of work that you will do on it will be less, nor does it make you a less qualified worker. It might seem obvious to most of you, but trust me when I say that there are exceptions! So, think big but go small!
